Halloween Extravaganza
October 24-26, 2008

Hi all,

I wanted to give a quick update on the Halloween Extraveganza held on Oct 24-26. The event was hosted by Andrea and Angel Rodriguez at Rancho Loma Linda in Cochran, Ga.
We had a wonderful time in the mixed breed challenges and had the opportunity to not only showcase our beautiful breed, but also to appreciate the strengths and beauty of several participating breeds. Paso Finos, Appaloosas, Quarter Horses, Paints and Arabians were among the breeds competing and exhibited during our fun-filled weekend. The Bleckley County Royal Riders 4-H Club set up and staffed a concession stand with lunch and breakfast items available throughout the weekend.

The Friday night social was a great start to what would be a fantastic weekend. A special thanks goes out to Neil and Barbara Rosdail for the wonderful roast they provided at the social and their outstanding support and efforts in coordinating the treasure hunt and judging of competition classes.

As president of the SSPHC I would like to extend our appreciation and gratitude to the following for their support:

Dr. Jennifer Baker - Equine Associates of Hawkinsville Ga., for their interesting and informative seminar on equine nutrition and hoof care.
Kathy Santori - for her 1st place prize donation of a custom crafted belt buckle.
Jack & Edna Miller - Sand Hill Feed for their donation of prizes for the competitions and the ribs & chicken for the Saturday evening BBQ.
Ernie Selph - Selph Paint Horse Farm for his generous donation to our club show fund.
The Bleckley County Royal Riders 4-H Club for their support.

It was a successful event that helped us raise funds towards our 1st Annual Peruvian Horse Show (more on that later)...

I look forward to future events and hope to get even more participation from club members and sponsors.

Best regards to all,

Angel Rodriguez
President - SSPHC

The rest of the Board of Directors and Members would also like to thank Angel & Andrea Rodriguez for graciously hosting the event at Rancho Loma Linda.

December 8, 2007

Cochran, GA – Bleckley Country Royal Riders 4H

“Day with the Peruvian Horse”.

It was a beautiful December day in middle Georgia. The sun was bright, as were the smiles on the young ladies faces of the
Beckley County Royal Riders 4H group. http://www.royalriders4h.com

The Southern States Peruvian Horse Club http://www.ssphc.org co-sponsored the event which was graciously hosted by
Andrea & Angel Rodriquez (Rancho Loma Linda http://www.rancholomalinda.com) and Jack Miller (Krisna Farm http://www.krisnafarm.com )
at Rancho Loma Linda, Cochran, GA.
“A Day with the Peruvian Horse” was an introduction of the Peruvian Paso Horse breed to the young ladies of the middle Georgia 4H Horse Program.
The afternoon began with a presentation of the Peruvian Horse by Angel Rodriquez and his stallion HFC Majestuoso
and Andrea Rodriquez riding Krisna Farm’s stallion LD Espejo de Fenix. Jack Miller spoke of the history, conformation, tack, etc, to
the young ladies and chaperones of the group.

After the presentation the 4H members, at different levels of riding skills and of various ages were given the opportunity
to ride the “Black Stallion”, LD Espejo de Fenix.

We would also like to thank Robert Taylor, Barn Manager for his help and his wife Mary for serving lunch.

All participants, hosts, and horses had a wonderful day.
